My Safety Index
What Is The OpenHazards Safety Index?
The amount of damage a particular home can be expected to experience in a future time frame depends on many factors:
- The location and magnitude of future earthquakes
- The expected amount and severity of ground shaking
- Specific details of the home construction
The OpenHazards Safety Index is a single number representing the "safety" of a home or the likelihood that the home will experience significant structural damage in the next year. We've designed it to be similar to a financial Credit Score, with higher Safety Indicies indicating higher resistance to seismic hazard.
The Safety Index is calculating by estimating the likely affect of earthquakes anywhere in the world on a specific home. The higher the value, the safer the home!
