Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Earthquakes
Recently there have been a series of M>6 earthquakes in Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan, Central Asia. We can use the hazard viewer to evaluate the risk, which appears to be quite high at this time. A screenshot of the selected region is below, together with 3 recent M~4 earthquakes.
The chance of a M>6 earthquake within the next 1 year from today, June 9, 2014 is computed to be 82.6%, within the blue circle.
The chance of a M>6 earthquake displayed as a timeseries (chart: probability as a function of time) is shown below. Note that the yellow icons denote 5 earthquakes of M6 that occurred in the circle since January 1, 2008.
