Moderate Earthquake Near Santa Barbara, CA May 29, 2013

Today California had a moderate earthquake (M4.8) near Santa Barbara, California. 

It was near the Mission Ridge - Arroyo Parida - Santa Ana fault system.  The focal mechanism indicates ENE compression consistent with a thrust fault. 

Using the earthquake viewer, we can see that the chance of a larger earthquake in this area during the next year was low at the time it occurred. 

Relatively few aftershocks have been recorded at this time (14:30 local time).

There is the moderate earthquake in this part of the community. You can see the reading of the earthquake is 4.8 which is moderate. We have to make the arrangements in order to make our country safer from such incidents.
